The apparatus is capable of applying both concentrated (point) loads and distributed loads to the bridge. It is supplied with precision dial gauges for measuring bridge deflection at specified locations, as well as two low-friction pulleys and loading hangers to allow accurate and flexible load application. To measure the support reactions, the system is equipped with two adjustable load cells mounted at the bridge supports, each capable of measuring forces up to 5 kgf and reporting the reactions simultaneously. Two portable digital indicators (STI-50model) are provided to read the load cell output (mv/v) and display the corresponding support forces with high accuracy.
