Supply of Testing and Laboratory Equipment for the Non-Ferrous Metals Industry
Including tensile, bending, torsion, hardness, impact tests, etc.)
A non-ferrous metal is a type of metal that does not contain iron in significant amounts in its chemical composition. In general, non-ferrous alloys contain less than one percent by weight of iron. If iron constitutes a large proportion of the metal composition—such that it is the first or second most abundant element—the metal is not considered non-ferrous.
The common characteristics of non-ferrous metals are that they do not rust; however, they may still be subject to corrosion. In addition, they do not exhibit magnetic properties.
Examples of non-ferrous metals include aluminum, copper, and nickel, as well as metals such as tungsten, titanium, zinc, silver, gold, platinum, lead, and many others.
Typical applications of non-ferrous metals include:
- Refrigeration equipment, such as tanks
- Components exposed to high temperatures in aerospace applications, such as combustion chamber parts, and - marine equipment
- Electrical components, including wires, terminals, and other connectors
- Piping and plumbing systems
- Tools and hand equipment
- Decorative and ornamental applications
- Marine equipment, such as boat lifts and docks
- Aerospace equipment, including materials used in aircraft structures
- Construction equipment, such as beams and rails
- Certain types of cookware
