This apparatus is used for testing and investigating the principles governing the behavior of rotating masses at various radii, enabling evaluation of effective parameters such as mass and distance from the rotation center. The weights are screwed and secured at three different radii. As the test speed increases, the centrifugal force increases and causes the test masses to swing outward about the hinge. When the moment produced by the mass about the hinge equals the moment produced by centrifugal force, the corresponding angular speed can be recorded. By substituting the rotation radius, mass, and angular speed into the standard formula, the centrifugal force can be calculated and compared with the value predicted by the balance mechanism. In another method, the theoretical angular speed (ω2) is calculated and compare with the experimental results. The test can also be performed once with different masses at fixed radii and then repeated with fixed mass at different radii. Finally, in each test the data are recorded in a table and a curve of angular speed (ω2 versus r) is plotted and compared for different conditions.
