According to ASTM D7121 and DIN 53512 and ISO 4662 standards, SRT-5B has a precision pendulum and a robust anvil where the specimen could be placed on. Anvil adjustability enables the operator to test specimens with different thickness. An automatic release device (magnetic type) carries out the test without release error at the beginning (which may occur when using a mechanical releasing device). Meanwhile, calibration option is available to set the release height (angle) by means of a key on the panel. The pendulum is designed based on the minimum distance between the pendulum center of percussion and the strike line. This dynamic feature omits all lateral forces in bearings at the time of strike and transfers the whole pendulum energy to the specimen. The pendulum is released from a certain height (angle) and after strike, the rebound height (Angle) is measured by an incremental encoder. The ratio of the rebounded height to the initial height (resilience) is displayed digitally on the machine panel in percentage (%). According to ASTM, six tests should be carried out and the average of the last three tests should be reported. SRT-5B can operate based on the above instructions and report the final results digitally.
SRT–5B is intended to determine resilience of standard rubbers specimens. Rubber can absorb energy. In many applications (such as dampers), rubber is used for recoil reduction and vibration damping.
