- Frictionless linear bushing for the pan where dead weights are placed
- As per DIN 53516 and ISO 4649 standards
- Capable of adjusting abrasion stroke for 20m and 40m
- Different weights (5,10, 20N) can be mounted to apply vertical forces to the specimen
- The specimen holder has a deviation of 3º from the perpendicular axis
- During the abrasion test, the specimen can rotate around its own axis or remain fixed
- Equipped with die for manufacturing the test piece
- A tray for collecting debris from the abrasion test
- Easy operation and maintenance
- A protective shield made of Plexiglas
- Low price
According to DIN 53516 and ISO 4649 standards, a rubber piece is mounted under a weight and exposed to a rotating drum with an abrasive sheet for a fixed distance (with standard size and constant speed, 40rpm). The weight difference before and after the test is registered and compared to a reference rubber with known abrasion resistance properties. After a full 20m or 40m test is performed, the mass loss of rubber is calculated. The obtained mass loss of the elastomer is calculated by means of the elastomer density, and turned into volume. This mass loss of the rubber as the outcome of the test is reported in comparison with the reference sample. SAT-500 is equipped with a proper mechanism for rotating and/or not rotating the specimen around its own axis (as per the standard speed) during the test; there is a protective lever to keep the sample holder up to protect its surface against destructive abrasion. A micro switches is used to stop the machine in emergencies (e.g. the protective Plexiglas left open). There is a steel die for manufacturing abrasive test pieces (diameter 16mm), 34-40 HRC; it cuts the abrasive test pieces out of rubber sheets as per DIN 533516.
SAT -500 is used to determine the abrasion resistance of elastomers under frictional forces. It is also used to control the quality of polymers in tires, conveyer belts, shoes heel and outsole that are in close contact with solid materials.
