The SCT-30B operates through an electromechanical drive using Dead Weight loading mechanism. Its key feature of this machine is precise control of both temperature and applied force. Loading is applied through calibrated dead weights. A rigid lever with a knife-edge support multiplies the applied weight with a factor of 10 before transferring it to the specimen achieving an accuracy of ±0.5% within the range of 1000N-30kN (in compliance with ISO 7500). The rigid lever can be manually levelled via a handwheel for ease of operation.

The system includes a dedicated display that transfers temperature to the software to determine the specimen temperature. The furnace can move vertically relative to the specimen for easy access and adjustment of the specimen, thermocouples, and extensometer. After specimen failure and test termination, a microswitch system halts the test, turns off the furnace, and stops the timer (mounted on the panel, with a resolution of 1 s). The test duration can also be monitored through the software. Additionally, an RS-485 to RS-232 converter transfers the specimen temperature to the PC.

To ensure the application of an axial net force, the machine is equipped with self-aligning interfaces capable of accommodating various adapters and grips. These can accept multiple threaded fixtures (M6-M12) for round specimens, as well as adapters for sheet specimens up to 5 mm thick (available upon request). All grips, fixtures, and holder interfaces are made of INCONEL 738 superalloy, suitable for operation at temperatures 980˚C.

Additional accessories are provided for force calibration allowing verification or adjustment of the axial load applied to the specimen. These include a 20kN tensile S-type load cell (resolution 1/100000 F.S), grip-mounted interfaces, and a force digital indicator.

For accurate strain measurement inside the furnace and for plotting the creep curve, a precision sensor complete with a Hot Creep Test Extensometer interface is used. The sensor can be either a digital type or a linear potentiometer (stroke: 10 mm, resolution: 0.001 mm). The high-temperature extensometer is made of superalloy and can be mounted on the adapters for both round and sheet specimens.

SCT-30B is designed for quality control of special metals and superalloys (Nickle-based, Iron-based, Cobalt-based), heat-resistant steels, hot-work steels, and stainless steels in production facilities required, where routine testing is required rather than research purposes. Typical application areas include:

  • Research centers, power plants, and gas turbines manufacturers
  • Aerospace and aviation industries
  • Hot-work steel producers
  • Material testing for high-temperature equipment (e.g., boilers and furnaces)
  • Quality control and performance verification of superalloys (e.g., Monel and Inconel)
  • Engineering departments (metallurgy and mechanics)
