SAF-50B is an upper-table configuration and a capacity of 5 tons, equipped with specialized high-temperature accessories. It features a top-mounted actuator, with the load cell directly connected to upper movable crosshead.

The machine is equipped with a circular furnace (up to 1100˚C) featuring three thermal zones for controlling vertical and angular temperature gradients, enabling precise application of thermal stress during long-term tests. Each zone is regulated through a three-zone PID controller integrated with a digital HMI touchscreen panel. Three thermocouples are mounted directly on the specimen to measure the average temperature, while the furnace bulk temperature is automatically controlled and displayed using real-time specimen feedback. The system also provides automatic compensation for temperature gradients between zones with a resolution of 0.1˚C. For ease of operation, the furnace can move vertically relative to the specimen, allowing convenient adjustment and access to specimen and sensors. The furnace can be detached from the machine via arms and lateral guide rods.

The system is equipped with specialized hydraulic grips and interfaces for high-temperature fatigue tests, capable of securely clamping the specimens and eliminating backlash errors in the clamping mechanism under reverse axial stress. These grips are designed to operate at temperature up to 1100˚C, in compliance with ASTM E1012 and ISO 12106.

Various grips can be mounted on the hydraulic interfaces for clamping threaded round specimens (M4, M6, M8, M10, M14, M16) in compliance with DIN 50125 Type B or ASTM E8 (Subsize). The grips are designed for super alloy specimens and can withstand temperatures up to 1100˚C.

Hydraulic unit with a specified flow rate and auxiliary instruments, is selected based on the required linear motion speed and is used to determine the test frequency, and displacement values.

The machine is capable of performing fatigue and durability tests using W.G grips, and can determine the service life of various specimens in compliance with international standards, including ASTM E1942 and ISO 14242. It can apply dynamic loads in multiple patterns such as sinusoidal, triangular, square, and saw-tooth with the additional capability of defining random tests based on the wave patterns. Furthermore, the system supports Spectrum Tests within specified range of force, extension, stress, and strain, at frequencies up to 100 Hz.

By applying high-quality electronic hardware with fast response and high data acquisition rates, precision sensors and transducers, servo valves, and a real-time DSP-based controller, the SAF series machines ensure reliable performance. Combined with powerful software featuring optimized algorithms and advanced data processing for each control mode in long-term tests, the system is capable of simulating highly variable and realistic test conditions for practical fatigue testing.

The machine features a high-frequency response and a sampling rate of 5000 samples per second (one sample every 200 µs), enabling accurate measurement, rapid feedback and precise closed-loop control via a PID controller.

In addition to common fatigue tests, the SAF-50B can also perform crack initiation, crack growth, and static tests. The enhanced software (with Intranet connection via LAN port) provides the capability to apply periodic loads with specified amplitude and frequencies in various wave patterns, with additional features such as adding noise, applying offset, defining the number of applied cycles, and recording saved cycles. It also allows modification of all test parameters online during testing and generates comprehensive test reports.

Lateral jacks and hydraulic locking system are mounted on the machine for ease of operation (crosshead displacement), controllable via software. To extend the service life of machine components, a water cooling system with a plate heat exchanger is integrated, ensuring efficient oil cooling.
