STM-50 is designed for high-temperature tensile testing with a servo-electric mechanism using ball screws and AC servo motor and driver. Force is measured by a 5-ton load cell, accuracy class 0.5 (max. error 0.5% of the reading from 2% to 100% of the load cell capacity) in compliance with ISO 7500 and EN 10002.
The system is equipped with a circular furnace featuring three dedicated heating zones for uniform vertical and angular temperature distribution. The furnace operates at temperatures up to 1100 ˚C, and each zone is individually controlled through an HMI touch-screen panel (three-zone PID controller, resolution 0.1˚C). The system supports three thermocouples for measuring both the mean specimen temperature and the furnace bulk temperature, with automatic temperature gradient compensation based on real-time specimen thermocouple feedback. The furnace can move vertically relative to the specimen for easy access and adjustment of both the specimen and thermocouples. it can also be easily detached from the machine using supporting arms and guide rods.
The machine features a displacement sensor without stroke limitation, providing 0.05 µm resolution in no load mode and a displacement measurement accuracy better than 0.05 mm at full stroke. The test speed is adjustable from 0.001 to 500 mm/min. The system supports various low-capacity load cells to improve measurement accuracy, and automatically identifies the load cell and applies the corresponding settings.
High-temperature tensile testing can be conducted using the Windows-based JADOO software under rate control in two methods: constant force and constant stress, in accordance with the relevant standards.
Load Rate Control for all of machine instrument, Control (Force•, Stress•, Extension•, Strain•, … = cte)
A high-temperature extensometer (resolution 0.001 mm) can be mounted on the specimen for strain measurement during tensile testing and can also be used as feedback for closed-loop control of the loading rate.
The equipment is used to perform high-temperature tensile tests on both round threaded specimens (M4, M6, M8, M10, M12) and flat specimens in compliance with the relevant standards (sub-size, based on ASTM E8). It is suitable for testing superalloys at temperatures up to 980˚C.
The remaining hardware and software capabilities of the machine are identical to those of the STM series (servo electric configuration)
STM-50 machines plot real-time stress-strain curves during tensile testing and automatically calculate key mechanical properties (yield stress, ultimate tensile strength, strain, plastic deformability, stiffness, elongation, …). They also compare high-temperature test results with those obtained at ambient conditions, making them suitable for use during production processes (such as hot forming, melting, and rolling), as well as in research and quality control of metal and ceramic components. Typical application areas include:
- Research centers and power plants or gas turbines manufacturers
- Aerospace and aviation industries
- Hot-work steel producers
- Material testing for high-temperature equipment (e.g., boilers and furnaces)
- Quality control and performance verification of superalloys (e.g., Monel and Inconel)
- Engineering departments (metallurgy and mechanics)
