Behavior of unsymmetrical beams in elastic mode is studied and by planar measurement of beam deflection in both vertical and horizontal axes, experimental results are compared to theoretical ones. The beams have L and U sections, as well as solid rectangular section, which are cantilever beams in one end but the other end is loaded by hanger and weights. To measure deflection in cross section, two dial gauges are used that rotate round the specimen to measure deflection at different angles. To measure shearing center of sections, we use a mechanism with two dial gauges to determine its location precisely on the cross section.

SDB-20 is intended to check and train the equations of unsymmetrical beam in various shapes and measure its elastic deformation. Experimental shearing center can be compared to theoretical one via strength of materials formula.
