SAF-600 is a fatigue testing machine with a lower-table configuration and a capacity of 30 tons. Due to the wide spacing between its two columns, the system allows for installation of both compression and tensile grips on a T-slot table. It features a top-mounted actuator, with the load cell directly connected to the actuator.
The system features a hydraulic unit and auxiliary devices, selected according to the required linear speed and specified flow rate. These components are essential for accurately determining the machine’s linear speed, testing frequency, and displacement.
The machine is capable of performing fatigue and durability tests, as well as determining the service life of various specimens in compliance with international standards, including ASTM E1942 and ISO 14242. It can apply dynamic loads in multiple patterns such as sinusoidal, triangular, square, and saw-tooth with the additional capability of defining random tests based on the wave patterns. Furthermore, the system supports Spectrum Tests within the specified range of force, extension, stress, and strain, at frequencies of up to 100 Hz.
The equipment integrates advanced electronic hardware with high response speed and data acquisition rate, precision sensors and transducers, servo-hydraulic valves, and a dedicated real-time controller. An enhanced software with upgraded algorithms ensures accurate data processing across all control modes. Together with the robust hydraulic and mechanical design for long-term operation, the SAF series fatigue testing machines are capable of simulating real-world fatigue conditions for a wide variety of specimens. The operating mechanism is servo-hydraulic, utilizing a high-performance hydraulic servo valve and DSP-based technology for high-frequency operation.
The machine features a high-frequency response and a sampling rate of 5000 samples per second (one sample every 200 µs), enabling accurate measurement, rapid feedback and precise closed-loop control via the PID controller.
In addition to common fatigue tests, the SAF-600 can also perform crack initiation and crack growth tests, as well as static tests. The enhanced software (with Intranet connection via LAN port) provides the capability to apply periodic loads with specified amplitude and frequency in various wave patterns, with additional such as adding noise, applying offset, defining the number of applied cycles, and recording saved cycles. It allows modification of all test parameters online during testing and generates comprehensive outcome reports.
To extend the service life of machine components, a water cooling system with a plate heat exchanger is integrated, ensuring efficient oil cooling.
For ease of operation (the middle crosshead displacement) the lateral jacks together with hydraulic locking mechanisms are mounted controllable through the software menu.
